Breastfeeding Resources

Some women find nursing easy, some don't. Breastfeeding is a learned art, and we in the USA don't live in a breastfeeding culture, so here's some places to go for ideas and help.

Online:
The Animated Latch on BreastfeedingMadeSimple.com
Off-center is key, folks.

La Leche League International - The most comprehensive information on literally anything related to nursing.

Books:
Breastfeeding Made Simple My favorite - it's short and sweet and gives you basic principles so you can figure things out. I took it in my hospital bag with #2.

The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding I really like the newest 8th edition because the latch instructions are more current/accurate and it has become, well, just better all around.

Locally in Bellevue, Nebraska:
La Leche League.

Locally in Ann Arbor, Michigan:
Call or email a La Leche League Leader. These women are the most helpful, patient, and least judgmental. And they will help you for free.

My favorite lactation consultant. Barbara Robertson knows her stuff, keeps up to date, and will help you figure out how to make breastfeeding work for you. She's awesome.
